For a thermogenic fat burner, there’s a lot missing from Java Burn’s formula – old trusties whose absence I find strange in any supplement geared up towards helping us lose weight. I’m talking capsicum, glucomannan, that kind of thing – certain ingredients that all the best fat burners include for good, scientifically-backed reasons.

That being said, what Java Burn does include in its formula seems to be decent – but is it enough to save Java Burn a position amongst the best in a highly competitive market?

I recently had the chance to find out, happily enough.

Quick Verdict: Java Burn

Java Burn is decent enough. It’s cleverly made, with some very good ingredients.

However, it also lacks a lot – fiber for satiation and digestive health, capsicum for trusted thermogenesis, anything neurotropic in nature… it could do better. And for the money you spend, and in this market, it needs to do better.

There are simply too many better-quality weight management supplements out there at a similar price point for it to be worth looking at. I’d recommend PhenQ – a highly effective, intelligent blend of potent, safe ingredients that have found their way to the top spot in our trials time and time again.

What is Java Burn?

Java Burn is a dietary supplement designed to support weight loss and overall health by harnessing the power of coffee (hence its name) and a proprietary blend of super-nutrients.

It is, in short, a thermogenic fat burner, designed to give you a range of benefits all aimed at making your weight loss journey less costly, more effective and efficient, with fewer side effects.

It’s made by NutraWorks Inc., and should give you a pretty decent helping hand as you seek to lose weight naturally.

A note on this kind of supplement first, though. Thermogenic fat burners are not miracle drugs.

They are not pharmaceutical, and they won’t do the work for you. It’s not possible for them to, and it’s not what they’re intended for.

Rather, they are designed to be used in conjunction with a healthy, balanced diet and active lifestyle.

You will need a modest to high calorie deficit (around 300-500 to 800-1,000 calories per day) to lose weight. This is non-negotiable.

However, an effective calorie deficit will so often bring a range of side effects, including low energy, impaired metabolic function, brain fog, hunger pangs, poor digestion, anxiety… it’s quite the list. A good thermogenic fat burner won’t work miracles to fix this.

Rather, it should go some way towards warding off many of these side effects, making the whole process easier and more effective, and your weight loss target more achievable.

Java Burn does some of this very well, as we’ll see. It’s heavy on the coffee, which I enjoyed. I go through life in a perpetual state of over-caffeinated jitters, and got on really well with it.

Caffeine is also highly thermogenic, so you might expect to see a little elevated fat loss (I didn’t), and is a potent appetite suppressant, meaning fewer hunger pangs (I did experience this).

Everything else included in the formula backs this all up nicely; though honestly, it could go a lot further – indeed, I think it needs to in order to justify its price tag.

With ingredients like Chlorogenic Acid, Green Tea Extract, Chromium, and L-Carnitine, Java Burn aims to enhance metabolism, increase energy levels, and facilitate fat loss in a natural and sustainable way. It’s just a little miserly for my liking.

What are the purported benefits of using Java Burn?

Java Burn models itself on a basic thermogenic fat burner template. This means that we should expect a few different benefits from it – which, to be fair, it largely delivers.

For example, of course, Java Burn’s primary benefit is its ability to support weight loss. The combination of ingredients in Java Burn, such as Chlorogenic Acid, Green Tea Extract, Chromium, and L-Carnitine, work together to boost metabolism, increase fat oxidation, and improve insulin sensitivity.

By enhancing the body’s ability to burn fat for energy, Java Burn may help you to shed excess weight a little more effectively. This comes down in large part to the boost it may give your metabolism.

The ingredients in Java Burn have thermogenic properties, helping to create heat from the body’s potential energy (i.e., its fat reserves), using them up. Simply put, they increase the body’s metabolic rate, leading to more calories burned.

It’s also common enough to struggle with low energy levels during a calorie-restricted eating plan. Calories are, after all, a measure of energy (in the form of heat) – you’re literally depriving yourself of energy during any weight loss phase. It can show.

Supplements like Java Burn can help out. I’ve always relied on them and got some good results (though, depending on your situation, a cup of strong black coffee every few hours may work just as well).

Particular ingredients can come into play in quite a major way here, helping you to feel more energized, focused, and motivated throughout the day. This makes it easier to stick to a healthy lifestyle, and gives you an extra gear to feel more amped up for training, which can otherwise be a little lackluster.

Some of the ingredients in Java Burn, like Chlorogenic Acid and Chromium, have been studied for their potential to regulate blood sugar levels. This can contribute to more stabilized blood sugar and energy levels throughout the day, reducing fluctuations that can trigger cravings for sugary or carb-heavy foods.

That caffeine can really help to suppress your appetite too, with obvious benefits for anybody looking to run a calorie deficit. Hunger signaling is one of my biggest problems, and to be fair, Java Burn did a pretty decent job of curbing it, largely courtesy of its caffeine content.

I always personally struggle with brain fog during a calorie deficit. Typically, I tend to favor any supplements that can help me to overcome this – nootropics and the like are pretty handy, here.

However, so is coffee. Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system and can increase focus, attention, and alertness. It’s no more effective in Java Burn than it is in a double espresso, but still, it is effective.

Lastly, you also get a fair amount of antioxidant support from Java Burn. Antioxidants help protect the body against oxidative stress caused by free radicals, which can damage cells and contribute to various health issues.

The inflammation that can result may also be linked with weight gain. Java Burn represents a handy way to bring some antioxidant support into your daily routine, promoting overall health and wellbeing (though, again, a cup of coffee every few hours may do the same).

Individual benefits may vary. They may also not surface at all, beyond what you would get from any caffeine source. However, Java Burn may work wonders for some people.

I got OK results on it, if slightly underwhelming. Either way, as above, it will only work in conjunction with a healthy diet and lifestyle, including at least a moderate calorie deficit.

Java Burn ingredients

It’s a small list, though there are some gems in Java Burn’s formula.

Firstly, Chlorogenic Acid plays quite a large role in the purported benefits to be gained from taking Java Burn. It’s a natural compound found in coffee beans that has been shown to have several health benefits.

It is thought to reduce glucose absorption, lower blood sugar levels, and improve insulin sensitivity. By regulating blood sugar levels and boosting metabolism, chlorogenic acid can help promote weight loss and prevent fat accumulation.

The caffeine itself is also pretty formidable. You get a moderate amount with each serving. It should lead to plenty of the added energy, appetite suppression, and cognitive benefits listed above (though, again, no more so than a regular cup of coffee).

Then there is Green Tea Extract, which is rich in catechins and other bioactive compounds that have been associated with increased fat oxidation and energy expenditure. Studies have suggested that Green Tea Extract can help to boost metabolism and promote fat burning, making it an effective aid for weight loss.

Chromium is a trace mineral that plays a crucial role in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. It’s a clever inclusion, here – I’ve used supplements with chromium in them a few times and have often been pleasantly surprised.

It may help to improve insulin sensitivity, enhance glucose uptake by cells, and regulate blood sugar levels. These effects are of particular benefit for anybody like me, struggling with weight management and cravings, with hunger pangs.

You get a couple of clever amino acids in Java Burn, too: L-Carnitine and L-Theanine, two of my favorite ingredients.

L-Carnitine is involved in transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are oxidized to produce energy. By increasing the utilization of fat as a fuel source, L-Carnitine can help to expedite weight loss and improve energy levels, especially during any kind of physical activity.

It has also been suggested to have a positive impact on exercise performance and recovery.

L-Theanine is a bit of a star on the nootropic market – it’s included in most of the big names, with very good reason. It’s commonly found in green tea, and has been shown to promote relaxation, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve mental clarity and focus.

These are all crucial to me during any cut – stress and anxiety often lead me to eat emotionally, whilst that brain fog always threatens to undo me.

Finally, you get a pretty solid vitamin complex in Java Burn. This includes B vitamins, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E, all of which are known for their antioxidant properties and their ability to support cellular function and energy production.

It’s pretty ineffective, though. Or, rather, I’ve had much better results elsewhere, from more comprehensive lists.

I would also have liked to have seen Capsaicin and a decent fiber like Glucomannan as something of a minimum requirement. Without them, Java Burn will always just be a little lackluster.

If you’re looking for a good thermogenic fat burner, you will do better looking elsewhere. Happily, it’s an incredibly rich marketplace – there are some fantastic options out there if you want them.

PhenQ is one of the best. It frequently tops lists of the best thermogenic fat burners going – I’ve personally put it at the top of several roundups I’ve written over the years.

There is a very good reason for this: the ingredients list is far-ranging, rich, and covers everything you need it to – and as a result, it works incredibly well.

Its unique blend of ingredients, such as Capsimax, Chromium Picolinate, Caffeine, Nopal Cactus, L-Carnitine Fumarate, Innoslim, B vitamins, and Iodine, work together to suppress appetite, enhance fat burning, increase energy levels, and improve mood.

Innoslim, B vitamins, and Iodine support a balanced metabolism and optimal thyroid function, aiding in weight loss.

Capsimax is particularly wonderful – it’s both an appetite suppressant and, as a source of capsicum, one of the better thermogenic ingredients going. It’s backed up by caffeine, whose energy-giving and thermogenic properties are perfect for weight loss.

Then there is Nopal Cactus, which is a rich source of glucomannan, one of the best fibers going for hunger satiation. The patented blend of Ginseng and Astragalus in PhenQ stimulates the release of fat-burning hormones and can reduce carbohydrate absorption in the intestines.

It’s honestly brilliant, and I would thoroughly recommend it to anybody looking for a worthwhile alternative to Java Burn. It gives you everything you would expect from Java Burn, plus a lot, lot more, without being noticeably different in price.

Honestly, its existence undermines any need for Java Burn in today’s market.


Java Burn is decent enough. It helped me a little bit as I ran a calorie deficit. However, the formula is miserly. It’s not elegant and paired back, as some can be. It’s just lacking.

This would be bad enough by itself. However, it charges around the same price point as some of the better thermogenic fat burners out there – fat burners like PhenQ, which can make a massive difference to your weight loss journey (far more so than even the most optimistic accounts of Java Burn).

There is no place for something as parsimonious as Java Burn in today’s supplement market. Go with something far more generous. Go with something like PhenQ.
