What is WellStart?

WellStart Health is an intensive, lifestyle change program led by highly-qualified physicians, dietitians, and health coaches. The goal of the 12-week program is to support participants with chronic conditions and those at risk by slowing down and even reversing their illnesses by empowering them with the knowledge and practical skills to take control of their own health. Many participants reduce and even eliminate medications and feel better than they have ever imagined possible.

How does the WellStart program work?

Once you join the program, you’ll be onboarded to the WellStart platform, where you can track progress through your own custom dashboard, participate in an online discussion group, text your coach, access daily video lessons and other helpful content, and access group online visits with your dietitian and health coach. The program is 12-weeks long with optional post-program support.

How much time should I plan on spending on this?

That totally depends on you. Plan on spending at least 60 minutes per week interacting with the platform and your coach, whether that includes attending the group online meeting and posting to the group discussion, texting your coach, or watching the week’s short daily videos. This does not include time spent practicing new skills like healthy eating, making time to move your body, and learning to manage stress.

Do I have to be diagnosed with certain conditions to participate?

Absolutely not. Anyone who is looking to become healthier and connect with amazing coaches and peers should consider the program.

How do I sign up for WellStart?

What are the group discussions like?

The discussions happen on an online discussion board that is private to your group. Coaches lead discussions about nutrition, physical activity, mindset, personal struggles, accountability and more. Imagine a turbocharged group of peers led by a health coach all ready to keep each other accountable and share the journey with one another.

How do I talk to my coach?

We fully integrate with SMS, so it's as simple as shooting a text to your health coach once the program begins. You are also able to send pictures as we know it's nice to be able to share things like recipes & photos of delicious food! You are also able to message your coach from within our platform if you prefer to communicate that way.

What if I want a refund?

Simply email us at within the first two weeks of the program launch, explaining why you would like a refund and we can process your cancellation.

What personal information is shared?

Your group members will have access to limited information about you as you go through the WellStart program together. Group members can see each other’s photos, first name, last initial, and hometown. They can also read the optional bio note you write. Fellow participants cannot see any of your personal health information. Your trained coaches and dietitians can see a more in-depth profile that does include your personal health history and other data you have submitted. However, only coaches directly assigned to your program have access to your personal information. Coaches across different programs do not have access to your data.

What privacy and security measures are in place?

Keeping user data safe and secure is a huge responsibility and a top priority for WellStart. Our users trust us with sensitive personal and medical information. We work hard to protect our users from threats. We use encrypted connections on our entire HIPAA compliant platform. This ensures that your data, even while in transit up to our servers, is secure, as well as all data at rest is encrypted.

Data deletion policy

If a user explicitly requests that data be deleted, within 30 days, the data will be permanently and irreversibly deleted from all backups and logs. This information cannot be recovered once it has been permanently deleted. Our backups are stored off-site for a maximum of 30 days and logs are kept for a maximum of 30 days. This is why data cannot be immediately destroyed if requested. We do not retain any data, logs or backups outside of a rolling 30-day backup. To request a deletion of your data you can email .

Is my credit card information secure?

You can be confident about entering your credit card number via our secure server. Our platform encrypts all submitted information. Then, it directly and securely sends this data to our payment processor Stripe. Stripe is the leading processor of online payments. We never have access to your stored card number or other secure payment information. Our system can only see the last 4 digits and other anonymized data about the payment methods you provide. This means, that even if our secure servers were to be compromised your payment information would still be secure within our partner Stripe. Can I share logins with my spouse, partner or Friend?

No, due to the personal and individual nature of the program you cannot share account login information. We do offer discounts for spouses, partners or friends. Just send an email to and we’ll get you set up.

Is WellStart covered by insurance?

WellStart is not currently covered by insurance. However, it is eligible for payment using a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA).
